Understanding the difference between assets and expenses is a key component to accurate bookkeeping and financial records. It also is the difference between capturing depreciation correctly and/or expensing an item in the year it was purchased. 

 We’ll spend this hour defining assets and expenses, explaining which financial report they impact and demonstrating how to categorize them in QuickBooks, and finally discussing the implications at tax time.
